Cody Balzer, Balzer Law Firm P.C., Loveland Colorado


Born in Bottineau, North Dakota, Cody lived all over North Dakota (Williston, Fargo & Bismark) as well as West Des Moines, Iowa, Rapid City, South Dakota, and finally Casper, Wyoming, where he graduated with honors from Kelly Walsh High School.

He then earned his B.A. in Business from Baylor University located in Waco, Texas where he was a founding father of Baylor chapter of the Sigma Nu fraternity.

Three months after graduating from Baylor, Cody left central Texas and headed back to the high plains of Wyoming by enrolling in the University of Wyoming College of Law located in Laramie.  While in law school, Cody published and served as junior editor and then Managing Editor of the Land & Water Law Review.  While still a law student, Cody was a summer law clerk for the firm of Reeves, Murdock & Gifford as well as serving as an extern for Wyoming Supreme Court Justice William A. Taylor.  Cody earned his juris doctorate in May of 1995.

In September of 1995, after passing both the Wyoming and Colorado bar exams, Cody began his legal career as an associate with Reeves & Murdock in Casper, Wyoming. Nick Murdock started his own law firm shortly thereafter.  Cody joined that firm as an associate.

In 1999, Cody became a shareholder in Nick Murdock & Associates, P.C.  In 2001 and after Mark Carman joined the firm, the firm changed the name to Balzer Carman Murdock.

In 2005, Cody relocated to Loveland, Colorado, and shortly thereafter started Balzer Law Firm, P.C.

In 2013, Cody made his mother (a native of Mott, North Dakota and a U.N.D. graduate) proud by obtaining his North Dakota law license.

Over the years, Cody has worked on numerous difficult and complex cases including oil and gas matters (including class actions), personal injury matters, wrongful death, contracts and commercial litigation. Details of some of the class action cases are located on this site.

Cody is the proud father of twin girls.
